Reverend Deb Stanbury, Executive Director
Rev. Deb Stanbury, MDiv, MTh
Rev. Deb Stanbury is Community Chaplain and Executive Director of ARISE Ministry. She is a minister in The Presbyterian Church in Canada and has been engaged in ministry with street-involved youth and individuals involved in the sex trade since 2007.
Rev. Stanbury has been director of ARISE Ministry since its formation in 2013. Her passionate leadership has contributed to the ministry’s growth and vision for the future.
Driven by social justice and an inclusive embrace, Rev. Stanbury leads the staff and volunteers of ARISE in fostering hope and empowering individuals involved in the sex trade.
Rev. Stanbury holds a Master of Divinity (MDiv) from the Vancouver School of Theology, and a Master of Theology (ThM) from Knox College, University of Toronto. Her Master of Theology is in Pastoral Theology and her thesis was titled “A Pastoral Approach to Juvenile Prostitution in Canada.”
Bethany Declercq-Gomez, Case Manager and Outreach Worker
Bethany is a Registered Social Worker acting as a Case Manager and Street Outreach Worker for ARISE Ministry. She completed her Bachelor of Social Work and Minor in Psychology at Ryerson University in 2018, after completing her senior practicum with ARISE. Bethany works from a spiritual approach integrated with anti-oppressive practice frameworks. She also works in the community as a Doula where she is able to pursue her passion for maternal and infant health and well-being.
Alicia Yeager, Peer Advocate and Case Manager
Alicia Yeager is a case manager and outreach worker with ARISE Ministry. She has a paralegal licence and diploma earned from Canadian Business College. Alicia has the lived experience and brings a new light to the table. She is excited to share her experiences and embark on successful journeys with her clients.
Angel Power, Peer Support Worker
Angel Power is a passionate advocate and accomplished poet. Angel is the author of “The Darkness and The Light,” a book of poetry in which she shares her lived experiences. Having overcome her own story of survival, she is committed to the empowerment of others and to preventative programs for at-risk youth. Angel serves as ARISE Ministry’s Peer Support Worker where she uses her experiences to inspire, encourage and empower others.
Caleb McCarroll-Butler, Administrator
Caleb McCarroll-Butler is over the moon to be joining the ARISE team as administrator. Caleb graduated with a Master’s in Environmental Science, with a focus on the science-policy interface and science communication. He is now pursuing a Master’s of Teaching at the University of Toronto. Caleb has been a manager, programmer, and leader in training director at the Cairn Family of Camps, and is delighted to serve ARISE with the skills developed there. He loves music and singing, scheduling, going on long exploratory walks in the woods, and using his context, skills, and opportunities to serve the greater world and its people.
